Matthew Beller

Matthew Beller joined the Institute in May 2023 and is a passionate communications and program management leader with over 20 years of experience in private and public organizations. Before joining the Institute, Matthew was a speechwriter and communications advisor at the United States Environmental Protection Agency where he developed communications and community engagement strategies for the New York Regional Administrator. He also led community and educational outreach for the United State Census Bureau’s Decennial Census operations across 6 states and 2 U.S. territories.

Matthew has also worked in a variety of organizations in the education space, including the education start-up BASIS Independent Schools where he helped build and launch some of the most successful independent K-12 schools in the country. He also worked as a product manager at the College Board where he managed the marketing and operations of the SAT assessment and its ancillary products and services.

Matthew is an avid believer in second chances and creating opportunities for those who never received their first chance. Matthew is a native New Yorker and graduated from Hunter College with a B.A. in Political Science and minor in Philosophy.
