HSE (High School Equivalency) Connect

HSE Connect is an opportunity for adults age 25 and older who have criminal legal system involvement, and want to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.

Funded by the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, HSE Connect is a collaboration between the John Jay College Institute for Justice and Opportunity (the Institute) and the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC).

The MEOC delivers student-centered academic and workforce development through academic and career training programs. The Institute supports participants in applying to MEOC and provides case management services for non-academic issues like housing, employment, and public benefits. Participants can enroll year-round and will be placed in the appropriate class based on a placement exam.

After completing their HSE diploma, HSE Connect students can connect with the Institute’s college access and professional development programs and MEOC’s career training and academic programs.

HSE Connect is currently recruiting for the summer session, which begins in July.
