How to apply for the NYC Justice Corps
Is the NYC Justice Corps right for you? As a Corps member, you can:
- Improve your neighborhood through projects that you will design and complete
- Learn job skills
- Be part of a team
- Receive a stipend
- Meet local leaders and business people
- Boost your reading and math skills on your way to a high school equivalency
- Get help applying to college
- Build a resume and develop job references
- Get help finding a job
You will need to:
- Make a six-month commitment to the program (full-time unless you are in school or working)
- Set employment and education goals for yourself
- Meet regularly with program staff
Are you eligible?
To apply for the NYC Justice Corps, you must:
- Be 18-24 years of age;
- Have been recently involved in the criminal justice system–for instance, be on parole or probation, released from jail or prison within the last year, or have participated in an alternative-to-incarceration (ATI) program within the last year, or have been arrested within the last year, or be referred by a specialized court; and
- Reside in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, or Queens.
