Peer Pathways: Training and Employment Options for People with Lived Experience in the Criminal Justice System Entering Human Services

December 4, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Prisoner Reentry Institute at John Jay College was honored to be asked by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) to develop a navigator certificate training program for people with lived experience in the justice system.

PRI began the training design process by surveying the ecosystem of training and employment options. Many people — including people with lived experience in the justice system, as well as those providing training currently, employers, funders, and government policy-makers –contributed to the survey.

We are inviting this group of stakeholders to participate in a conversation about creating a continuum of training and education — and meaningful career pathways — for people with lived experience in the justice system who are working in peer navigator, mentor, and other credible messenger roles throughout the human services field, drawing on their experience to help others make changes in their lives.

This convening is by invitation only and space is limited. Please get in touch with PRI’s Career Pathways team via email if you would like to recommend a guest. Reading materials will be sent to registered guests prior to the event.
