Education is Transformational
Give someone a real “Second Chance” by helping them get a college education!
The Educational Initiatives of the Prisoner Reentry Institute make it possible for men and women who have been involved in the criminal justice system to create new futures for themselves and their families through higher education.
The Prison-to-College Pipeline (P2CP) provides college to 25 men incarcerated in the Otisville Correctional Facility. The average cumulative GPA of our students is 3.7 (an A- average). With sufficient financial assistance, that program can increase enrollment to 150 people in the upcoming year.
The College Initiative (CI) assists formerly incarcerated people in the community to enroll in college and succeed there. Currently CI is providing academic counseling and peer mentoring to 300 students who are attending 20 different CUNY schools
