Elena Sigman

Elena joined the Institute in September 2011. She has thirty years of experience in social justice program design, startup, and operations management. Elena partnered with people with lived experience in the criminal legal system, John Jay College faculty and administrators and other subject matter experts to develop curricula and launch training programs, including Tech 101 (featured in Fast Company), the Navigator Certificate in Human Services and Community Justice, and the Collective Leadership Supervisor Training. Currently, Elena is partnering with the CUNY School of Professional Studies and NYC Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity to create training for City-contracted providers of workforce development services. Elena is a NeuroLeadership Institute Results Trained Coach. She has a BA in English from Yale University and MFA from Columbia University. Elena has previously served as Director of Food Programs at Hazon and as Director of Operations at the Women’s Prison Association.
